My Services

Midwifery literally means "with woman." Given the uniqueness of every woman and family, I work with you to customize your care to fit your needs while using evidence and shared decision making as a framework for all that we do.

As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I am able to provide care for women across the lifespan from menarche to menopause. This includes routine GYN exams, preconception counseling, GYN problem visits, prenatal care, labor and birth, and postpartum care.

It is my goal to work with women and families to educate them about their options and assist them in obtaining the care they desire in order to help create and maintain healthy families.

In order to best serve families, Mountain Roots Midwifery partners with Harvest Midwifery to provide team-based midwifery care to our clients. This provides two licensed midwives at each birth. This approach allows us to provide individualized, prompt care for both mother and baby as the need arises.

Prenatal Visits

Evidence-Based and Individualized

From our initial meeting all the way through your pregnancy and delivery, I take the time to get to know you, your concerns and your needs. I’m always available to contact by phone/email throughout and will provide everything you require to make sure your experience is as calm and positive as possible.

Initial prenatal visits last 60-90 minutes in order to throughly review your health history. Subsequent prenatal visits last 30-60 minutes and occur every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28-36 weeks, weekly from 36-41 weeks, and twice weekly at 41+ weeks.

During prenatal visits, we discuss healthy eating habits, hydration, normal discomforts of pregnancy, remedies for common discomforts, laboratory testing, preparation for labor and birth, postpartum changes, breastfeeding, and when to contact the midwife.

Labor and Birth

Supportive and Empowering

As your midwife, I am committed to being present with you for your labor and birth. If you remain a candidate for home birth, I am with you in the comfort of your own home. Should you risk out of care and require hospital transport,  I will accompany you and remain with you in a supportive role.

Postpartum Support

Informative and Compassionate

Postpartum, also known as the "4th trimester," is a time adjustment by adding a new baby to your family. I work with you to establish a breastfeeding relationship, offer nutritional advice, and assess that your body is adjusting to its new normal .I return at 24-48 for a hour home visit in order to perform newborn metabolic screening, critical congenital heart defect screening, and ensure that breastfeeding is well established. Additional visits are made as needed to continue to assist with breastfeeding support and normal newborn care throughout the first 28 days of life.
